Immersive Ocean Digital Twin Using Procedural Content Generation in Unreal Game Engine
If you're into gaming technology, you know you can create awesome, interactive, and beautiful virtual worlds. The Iliad hackathon https://ocean-twin.eu/hackathon-digital-twins-of-the-ocean offers YOU an opportunity to use and/or potentially contribute to the enhancement of a revolutionary new tool: The 3D Immersive Ocean platform using the EPIC Unreal engine. See: https://cradle.buas.nl/project/procedural-ocean-view/ This virtual world boasts high-quality graphics and dynamic simulations of geophysical, natural, and man-made objects in the marine environment, such as waves, marine flora and fauna, ships, and offshore wind turbines. The virtual ocean world is automatically generated using an innovative AI technique called procedural content generation. This technique allows the virtual ocean world to be generated automatically based on a set of decision rules. Real-life weather apps can generate a virtual representation of the sea (wave heights, rain, etc.) in real time. Ecological, engineering, or decision rules, such as restrictions on ships sailing through wind farms and fish avoiding noise pressures, can also automatically generate new 3D views. In this webinar you will learn more about the 3D Immersive Ocean platform from the people behind it. For those interested in enhanced 3D visualisations, integration of data sources, new functionalities and features, or playful user interaction, an invitation to participate in the hackathon will be offered.
