AR/VR Blind Navigation of Marine Vessels in Varna Port Complex
The Varna Port Pilot MVP#1-Blind Navigation for Maritime Vessel Captains and Pilots builds on the ILIAD Digital Twin of Varna Bay. Based on real-time information processing of meteorological, hydrological, and citizen-reported data, advanced environmental modelling, and high-resolution virtual and augmented reality representations of Varna Port Complex, it facilitates ship captains and pilots in navigating maritime vessels even under limited visibility. Field evaluations of MVP#1 technology readiness in real operational environments (https://youtu.be/4fUEx4Fl4iY) demonstrated the high robustness, usability, and acceptability of the prototype technology, with a well-pronounced interest from the end-user community in supporting further advancements of the technology.
