Wind Energy O&M
This application is developed to perform the optimization of short-term planning of maintenance activities on Offshore Wind Farms, and is thus termed STOMP. The scheduling of the maintenance activities is determined from a list of required interventions and incorporates the meteorological forecast to decide on the sequence of operations. For this purpose, the most relevant weather parameters are the sea-state, particularly the significant wave height, and the wind speed. The application requires as input the distance to port, and the spacing between the individual turbines, as to estimate the travel times and thus operational costs.
In addition to the farm characteristics, it is necessary to define the available fleet to carry out the maintenance activities, meaning the user should specify the vessel types and characteristics. This includes a range of parameters which enhances the estimation accuracy of operational costs, and enables the efficient computation of optimized strategies
The outcome of the application, i.e. the simulation results are displayed for the user, such that the information may be interactively organized and sorted under different criteria. The user may select different combinations of costs and thus have a more precise understanding of their relative importance.
