Iliad Project researchers will participate at the “International Ocean Data Conference 2022 – The Data We Need for the Ocean We Want”

Start: Monday 14th February 2022

End: Wednesday 16th February 2022

Location: Sopot, Poland

International Ocean Data Conference 2022 – "The Data We Need for the Ocean We Want”

The main objectives of the Conference are

  1. To consider regional and global strategies and policy needed to achieve the digital ecosystem
  2. To discuss existing and required technological developments and their implementation
  3. To identify future directions in ocean data and information management

The event will contribute to the multi-sectoral vision of the Ocean Decade by developing the Ocean Data and Information System (ODIS). This “digital ecosystem” will catalyse cooperation between data generators, repositories, and users from diverse stakeholder groups, including governments, UN entities, scientists, planners and decision-makers, as well as industry and the public.

The expected outcome will be a Conference Declaration that will provide a number of actionable recommendations to the global ocean data and information, observational and management community aimed at realising the implementation of the ocean data and information “global commons”by 20XX.

Iliad Project researchers will participate in Session 2: Implementing the Digital Commons, on 14th February, 2022.

Ute Brönner, Kristine Bauer, Arne J. Berre, Uwe Freiherr von Lukas, Jay Perlman, Georgios Sylaios and Martin Visbeck will talk at the session entitled, Digital Twins of the Ocean through Interoperability of existing and future Ocean Data Systems.

The International Ocean Data Conference 2022 is co-financed by the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund within the Oceanographic Data and Information System eCUDO.pl.
