ESA-ECMWF WORKSHOP: Machine Learning for Earth System Observation and Prediction
Start: Monday 6th May 2024
End: Thursday 9th May 2024
Location: ESA Centre for Earth Observation, Frascati
The 4th Edition of the ESA-ECMWF Workshop on Machine Learning for Earth Observation and Prediction will take place 7-10 May 2024 in Frascati, Italy.
Workshop Overview: Machine Learning (ML) and Deep Learning (DL) techniques have ushered in transformative advancements across various sectors, prompting significant interest within the Earth System Observation and Prediction (ESOP) community. This workshop, held at ESA/ESRIN in Frascati, aims to explore the synergies between ML/DL and conventional tools in satellite observations, weather and climate models, and post-processed model outputs.
Key Themes:
- ML/DL in Digital Earth Models
- Advancements in Weather Forecasting and Climate Prediction
- Novel Computing Paradigms: HPC, Edge Computing, and Quantum Computing
- Mixed Models for Text and Image Fusion in Earth Observation
Workshop Objectives: The workshop seeks to showcase the impact of integrating ML/DL with traditional ESOP techniques while addressing ongoing challenges. Over four days, participants will explore state-of-the-art ML/DL techniques in various ESOP domains. Oral presentations will provide an overview, while poster presenters will delve deeper into thematic areas, fostering one-to-one and one-to-many discussions. Parallel working groups will then tackle identified challenges, proposing solutions and future directions, with the ultimate goal of producing a comprehensive report contributing valuable insights to the field.
Who Should Attend: Scientists, researchers, industry professionals, and enthusiasts interested in the intersection of ML/DL with Earth System Observation and Prediction.
